For as long as I can remember my family has loved the beach. I grew up playing on the shores of Port Aransas, Texas, and though not the fanciest of beaches, there is something about the sound of the ocean and the feeling of sand in between my toes that makes me smile as if I was there.
The beach will always remind me of my mom, too. Since I was little, mom and I have walked the shores of not just Port Aransas, but beaches all over looking for sand dollars. We have found many and continue to add to our own collections, but what I collect the most throughout the years are the memories of our times together.
I added to my collection this past week when mom came to visit in California. Since I had the week off school we took a girls’ retreat to La Jolla and spent time relaxing out by the pool and enjoying the shores of La Jolla.
Though there were no sand dollar walks on this vacation, we had plenty of other walks…and talks that always make time with mom great.
I have most of these images of mom tucked away in my own memory, so these are for dad…

Gosh, sounds like so much fun! I love time with my mom…
I also love to think about our childhood memories of growing up on the Port Aransas beach! They are truly some of my favorite!!!!

I remember many of those fun times in Port A….with you and your Mom. I love special time with my beautiful girls as well! What a gift you girls are to your Moms….you have no idea…there are no words!

I’m with ya…nothin’ better than good quality time with moms. Funny how we need them more now than ever before…and, we’re supposed to be grown-ups (which I still question).
